ASTROLAB – Assessment of the safety of LABAs in asthma in routine care by combining healthcare databases and direct patient follow-up 

Funded by the European Commission under the FP7 Research Program, ASTRO-LAB is a prospective cohort study of patients suffering from persistent asthma. This project aims to assess the safety of long-acting β2-agonists (LABAs) in children and adults when used alone and in combination with inhaled glucocorticosteroids (ICs), compared with ICs alone. In this context 3000 patients aged from 6 to 40 years old will be followed during 2 years in the United Kingdom and in France while 3 databases will be collected: GP's databases, French delivering databases and data collected by the patients' follow-up. INDUSTRIAL PARTNER COLLABORATION - Identification by mass spectrometry of bacterial biomarkers in complex mixing

Jérôme Lemoine's team at the Institute for Analytic Sciences has a very strong expertise and a recognized know-how in the use of mass spectometry applied to the detection of molecules of all kind. In this framework, the bioMérieux company collaborated with M. Lemoine's team in 2006 in order to apply the technique of the mass spectometry to the detection of bacterial biomarkers, aiming at developping a new generation of diagnostical tests, much more sensitive and of very fast use. DOC CALIPSO - Browsing and focal automated treatments of tumors

This project is funded in the framework of the measure "Concept Proof" of the Cancer Center Lyon Auvergne Rhône Alpes (CLARA). It gathers a hospital-universitary team specialised in the treatment of urogenital tumors with a strong experiment in surgery engineering and experimental surgery, and the automat expertise of Adept® company. Doc Calipso aims at introducing a new concept of automatic browsing that enables the autonom positionning of a treatment source when being in contact with the tumor, thanks to a system integrating imaging analysis and/or geometrical tracking implanted in the organ to be treated. The objective is to achieve a new generation of multipurpose robots that could be used for the treatment of solid tumors, enabling to treat safely and without any radiological exposure tumors of little size and to access focal treatments with a great efficiency. EUROSARC - 9 innovative investigator driven clinical trials at European level to fight against rare cancers

Built from the merging of two European networks of excellence dedicated to clinical research in bone (EuroBoNet) and Connective Tissue (ConTiCaNET) sarcomas, euroSARC gathers worldclass European expertise in the field of sarcomas (17 recognized clinical research centers).  The goal of euroSARC is to address major academic questions arising in some rare histological and molecular subtypes of soft tissue and bone sarcomas - in localized and metastatic settings - by developing and conducting investigator-driven clinical trials, supported by translational analysis.
